Jake Shields vs. Renato "Charuto" Verissimo
I was very dissapointed with Charuto. He got a sweet takedown in the beggining but couldn't keep Jake Shields down. That was the only bit of offence he had. Shields got the takedown and Charuto went to survival mode. Jake Shields walked right through him. Jake Shields won by TKO round 1
Riki Fukuda vs. Joey Villasenor
This was a good fight. I picked Fukuda to win by TKO. I was let down by Joey's last fight. He got knocked out by an out of gas sloppy Ninja. This fight was a mini war, Fukuda landed many shots but his face looked bad. As the fight went on Joey and Riki traded shots and it seemed like Joey had more power. Joey Villasenor by decision.
Tonya Evinger vs. Gina Carano
Gina was finally tested on the ground. She got taken down but she swept Evinger and finished her on the ground for he first submission win. Gina Carano by rear naked choke.
Mike Aina vs. Nick Diaz
My pick for fight of the night. Mike Aina landed a ton of power shots with Diaz alot more punches but with less power. This was an even fight. I thought Mike Aina did the most damage but he didn;t get the Win. Nick Diaz by Decision
Maurilo "Ninja" Rua vs Robbie Lawler
Great fight. Ninja game out and fought using his trademark aggressive sloppy standup. I knew it was a matter of time before Lawler knocked a whole in Ninja's face. Lawler allowed Ninja to punch himself out and in the third round turned it on and knocked Ninja out cold. I tought the ref let it go too long. Lawler wins by KO in round 3.

You think Shields deserves to be promoted a little more? he's got some big-time wins against big-time opposition (though I guess Charuto wasn't as much of a challenge as I thought he'd be). wins over Yushin Okami, Mach Sakurai, Condit and Menne, and a draw with Misaki....Sherdog ranks him at NINTH in the WW's. Hmm
Definitly Shields should be promoted more. The only thing is that EliteXC doesn't have anyone at 170-175 to match up with him. He won't fight Diaz because there from the same team. If Ninja could drop to 175 it might be a good fight.
Dude Shields is hella boring. He doesnt attack like he should. Too many decisions on his record. Thats why hes not on in the UFC.
